The Diagnostician's Home

AOSN’s Internal Medicine Specialty Group is building a dedicated network for veterinary internists, ACVIM-certified specialists who thrive on solving the cases that defy straightforward diagnosis. Outpatient-focused, specialist-driven, and built for the way internal medicine is actually practiced.

Specialist-Driven Internal Medicine

The Specialty That Connects Everything

Veterinary internal medicine is the broadest and most diagnostically complex of all specialties. Internists are the clinicians other specialists turn to when cases cross disciplinary lines, spanning gastroenterology, endocrinology, nephrology, respiratory medicine, hematology, immunology, infectious disease, and urology. When a patient presents with multiple concurrent conditions, the internist is the one who sees the whole picture.

Yet the practice environment for most internists hasn't caught up with the complexity of the work. Shared imaging equipment, fragmented referral chains, and operational models designed around ER throughput make it harder to deliver the methodical, follow-up-intensive care that internal medicine demands.

AOSN’s Internal Medicine Specialty Group is building something different, an outpatient-focused internal medicine network where internists have dedicated diagnostic resources, multi-specialty collaboration within the same network, and the clinical autonomy to practice medicine the way their training intended.

The Specialty That Connects Everything

Why Internists Choose AOSN’s Internal Medicine Specialty Group

Clinical Autonomy

Internal medicine requires clinical flexibility, the ability to pursue a diagnostic pathway wherever it leads. AOSN protects your autonomy to manage cases on your terms, without corporate protocols dictating your workup.

Comprehensive Diagnostic Access

Abdominal and thoracic ultrasound, video endoscopy (rhinoscopy, gastroduodenoscopy, bronchoscopy, colonoscopy, cystoscopy), CT access, in-house laboratory, and advanced biomarker panels, the full diagnostic toolkit, available when you need it.

Internal medicine cases frequently intersect with oncology, surgery, cardiology, and dermatology. AOSN's specialty-exclusive network provides seamless access to colleagues across disciplines, no external referral chains, no fragmented care.

"With such a wide network of specialists you have so much support beyond your own clinic with cases and advice. There are also options to be involved in leadership, business, research, speaking, training, etc. If you have passions outside of the clinic. To feel supported as a clinician in a large specialty company is special."
